Joy of the Lord
And if you haven’t figured that out now, you need to figure it out because when you get married, you’re going to understand what I’m telling you is the truth. They’re pretty smart. They’re going to have to be smart to land you.
So anyway, we went back to Pastor Strader’s house, and he gave me their little guest bedroom. And I stayed in there for a few hours, and I tried to prepare a message for the evening because I was supposed to preach that night. Got to the service, and nobody was laughing. And I thought, Well, wow! The last time I saw them, there were several thousand people, they’re rolling in the aisles. They’re laughing hysterically. They’re falling off the chairs. They’re everywhere, and now it was back to normal. And I thought, Well, I guess it’s over, one-time deal, you know?
And so they had their praise and worship, and they raised their offering and they were on the radio live that night. And they introduced me. And I thought, Well, okay. I guess it’s over.
I got my Bible. I was sitting on the front. And I tried to get up. Instead of getting up, I fell off the pew in the floor. Now, students, surely you know me well enough to know that I don’t normally fall off the chair into the floor. That’s just not my speed. I am dignified! I’m a college president. I’m on television. I don’t fall off my chair into the floor. I don’t do that. I just don’t do it. That’s not me.
I fell off my chair into the floor, and I started rolling and laughing hysterically, and I couldn’t get up. Now you may have heard of people who have had that experience. It was as if my legs had been nailed to the carpet. I tried to pull my legs up, and I couldn’t get them to move. You talk about weird! I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life.
And I heard Pastor Strader say, “For the benefit of our radio audience, our evangelist is on the floor.” And I lay there, and I laughed and I laughed and I laughed and I laughed. And as I lay there, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, and here’s what He said: “As you laugh, I’m going to pay off your debt. And as you laugh, that ulcer which you’ve had for months is going to be healed.”
