She wants to respond to the strength of Christ in your life. And I want to just read this from Ezekiel 16:8. God said, “Now when I passed by thee and looked upon thee,” he’s talking to his wife. “Behold, thou time was a time of love.” One of the biggest complaints that we have from ladies around the nation as we travel is that “I get very little romance.”
MT: They didn’t say … now sex and romance are different. But a woman likes those special times.
BT: What is romance? See, romance to women is different than romance to a man. Romance to a man is having sex. But romance to a woman is something totally different. It’s the candlelight dinner, it’s taking … getting a babysitter for the kids and taking her out to a nice restaurant and, you know, just doing things for her. Sometimes …
RR: Maybe walking in the mall.
BT: And a lot of times … that’s right, walking through the malls which is a major sacrifice. But a lot of times when you say that, people feel like the immediately throws up flags thinking, “It’s going to cost me some money.” But I can share something that my husband does that’s very romantic that doesn’t cost anything. Sometimes I’m cleaning up after cooking and he will go upstairs and run my bath water and put bubble baths in it and he’ll say, “Honey, your water is ready.” To me that’s very romantic. He does that. And so in your mind you need to ask God, “God, what can I do to help minister to my mate?” whether it’s the husband to the wife or the wife to the husband. As my husband has given to me, the Word of God says, “God so loved the world that he gave…” And we have so many people in the Body of Christ, so many men in the Body of Christ, that love God, that’s preaching God’s Word and teaching God’s Word, but somewhere in their relationship in their home they’re missing something.
When I was a boy, I heard a story about a little dog that was always getting into fights with bigger dogs, and each time the little dog would win. How was that possible? There is an old saying, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog that determines the outcome.”
We sometimes put a limit on what we think God can do for us. But it’s not the size of the problem we’re facing that makes the difference; it’s the measure of faith that God put in us when He breathed the breath of life into our nostrils. God specializes in taking care of big things, little things, and all the things in between. Jesus said, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed…nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20 NKJV).
When Oral first began preaching the message of God’s goodness years ago, we thought everyone would be happy about it. But everyone wasn’t. In those days, it was hard to convince people that God is a good God who still wants to heal and perform miracles.
At that time I didn’t remember ever seeing a miracle in church—except one. I was about eight years old and we went to a healing evangelist’s meeting. A woman who was near death with tuberuculosis was brought in on a cot. She was healed that night and she walked all over the place, rejoicing and praising God! I said to myself, Now I know that miracles are from God. And I cried on the way home, saying, “O God, thank You for miracles!”
Because of that I knew miracles were real, but up to that point we had not seen any in our church. Actually, we’d not seen them in most churches because people were not ministering as Jesus did, which was teaching, preaching, and healing. But once Oral began following Jesus’ example, we started seeing wonderful miracles.
One time Oral was conducting a tent crusade in Durham, North Carolina. He prayed for an elderly lady who walked with a cane, and as she started to limp away, leaning heavily on her cane, he said, “Sister, you can walk without that cane!” The woman turned and looked at him. “I can?” she asked. “Yes, you can,” he said. Faith rose up in her spirit and the woman threw down her cane and marched around the building! The audience erupted in praises to God. After the service we saw crutches and canes all over the tent that had been flung down by those who had been healed. People found out that night that God is a good God and miracles are real! (See Acts 10:38.)
I want to share five secrets God has shown me. Most of them have come through my own father’s ministry. Oral Roberts has lived them.
The first secret God showed me is that we can be blessed and not stressed. And we are blessed for a reason¾so that we might become a blessing.
The Scripture teaches us to be anxious for nothing and to live one day at a time (see Philippians 4:6). To do this we must get into the Word. Psalm 1:1,2 says, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
God wants to bless us. We don’t have to lie awake at night worrying. We can cast the care of our worries onto Him and never take them back.
The second secret is to decide that you’re going to make it even though you don’t know how. We don’t have to figure everything out. I don’t know how a black cow can eat green grass and give white milk that makes yellow butter. I don’t have all the answers. God’s Word says that His ways are above our ways. His thoughts are above our thoughts. And He takes the things that the world calls foolish and uses them to confound the wise.
So stop being so analytical. Take God’s promises on faith. Faith is what you hold on to until you receive what you’re believing for. Learn how to say, “I’m going to make it even though I don’t know how I’m going to make it.” God will show you how.
And it’s easy to give outside of the home, but God wants us to get, as my husband was sharing yesterday, he wants us to get that first house in order. We come in contact with ministers all the time and they say, “Well, how did you get to where you are? How did you and Lindsay get to where you are?” You and Lindsay …
LR: Got our house in order.
BT: Got your house together. We had to get our house together, and it’s the same principle.
Richard Roberts: But people want to start where you are.
BT: Yeah, but you can’t.
RR: It doesn’t work that way. It’s just like I want to start the 12th grade but I want to eliminate kindergarten through the 11th grade. Or I want to start as a senior at ORU. No, you’ve got to start as a freshman.
BT: That’s right.
LR: And they want to start in a role that’s not their role. And one thing that hurts me with women’s rights is that, look, ladies, you’ve had rights from the Bible since long before you were born. You’ve had rights from the Bible that leads all the way back to the Old Testament. However, men have rights also that lead all the way back to the Old Testament. As far as being created spiritually equal, God did that. You have just as much right to go to God as any man.
I remember a time a when a woman was really being abusive to me, not in a physical sense, but emotionally. I tolerated it year after year until one day it involved my children, and that was it for me. I drew the line!
At that point I became frustrated, and bitterness set in. My mother came to me, and she said, “Lindsay, you have every reason to be bitter.” And I thought, Wow! That justifies how I am feeling. Then she said, “But you have no right to be bitter, because Jesus Christ took that right away from you at Calvary. You may have a great reason, but according to the shed blood of Jesus Christ, you have no right to remain bitter.” Then she said, “It’s not up to that person to change; it’s up to you to release that person.”
That hit me like a ton of bricks, and I suddenly realized it didn’t matter if it was a small offense, a medium-sized one, an insult of words, a heinous crime, or whatever, it was just as wrong for me to carry it. I realized at that moment that I was the one who was guilty, and I asked God to forgive me.
Maybe you’re struggling with feelings of bitterness and unforgiveness toward someone who has offended you. Jesus said in Mark 11:25,26 that we must forgive to be forgiven . So I ask you from the bottom of my heart to release all bitterness right now. Whatever offense it is that you are carrying, the greatest way to set yourself free is to set somebody else free. Just say, “Father God, I refuse to carry bitterness toward that person. I refuse to harbor unforgiveness. Lord, I release them to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
You strained all the muscles here. It goes from right here in your forefinger, beyond your thumb, even up by your wrist. You can’t move it. You can’t lift anything. You can’t pick anything up. You did it just recently. You have no use of it right here in picking things up, and God’s healing you right now. That’s a word of knowledge. Whoever you are, examine yourself, get up and call us at 918-495-7777.
There’s also someone, Lindsay, who is receiving healing. You’ve had pain in your shoulder. It goes all the way down your arm. It’s just throbbing. It’s been hurting you off and on for months, and right now, even as I’m speaking, it’s been hurting very badly. God’s healing you right now, live, on television. Whoever you are, get up and call us. If you need further prayer, the Abundant Life Prayer Group is ready to receive your call right now, 918-495-7777. It’s healing night, Lindsay.
LR: A lady called in. I’m not going to say her name because of this, but she was watching the Hour of Healing, and she said, it was the night that Cheryl and Harry were on, and she they were talking about depression.
RR: Oh, yes, earlier this week.
LR: She said for years she had been depressed, and she said she suffered because of the death of her husband. And she had asthma and had to be put on a ventilator. When we began to speak, she cried out to her son and yelled, “Come quickly.”
They grabbed her hands and agreed in prayer with her, with all of us. And she said, “Something like heat hit her stomach.” She felt it leave her body. She got up in the morning with joy. She’s gone all day with peace and joy, and she said she knows she is set free from depression.
RR: God is setting many, many people free these days from depression. Lindsay, Art is calling from up in Beechwood, Ohio. His wife, Nadine, had a very large tumor on her kidney. The doctor said it could be cancerous. Two days before the operation, they called the Abundant Life Prayer Group for prayer. However, the doctor postponed the surgery until today which was yesterday.
When they went in to do the surgery, they said, “We had the best doctors because the tumor, the situation was life or death. And the doctor said they’d never seen such a big tumor. Now the doctor found the tumor, but it was dead. The doctors say the malignancy was destroyed and the tumor is crushed. The doctors were astonished.
“One of the doctors said, ‘I cannot explain it,'” but Art said, “I am rejoicing. Thank you for prayer. Thank you for the Abundant Life Prayer Group.” Hallelujah! That tumor is gone! Sue, do you have a testimony?
I know three people personally that have been to hell. One friend is a pastor in the Caribbean. He died, was dead 45 minutes, and went to hell. His dad took him to a church, but he wasn’t a believer. He went right to the entrance of hell. When he told my wife and I about it that one night, I’m telling you, the fear of God hit me. And I was thanking God that the Holy Spirit revealed Jesus to me. He said, “John, I have never experienced fear. There is no fear in this earth like that. There is no torment on the earth like that.” And yet he was brought back, and today he’s pastoring a great church.
Well, we have to understand God freely forgave us from that. That’s what we deserve. So a believer that cannot forgive is a believer that’s forgotten what we’ve been forgiven of. The worst sin that I can think of on the face of this earth, Richard and Lindsay, is child molestation. Now if you can think of something worse, you tell me, but I can’t think of one worse. As horrifying as that is when an adult physically abuses a child, as horrifying as that is, that is nothing compared to hell. If that’s what that child deserved, that’s what you deserved, that’s what I deserve, but yet Jesus forgave us.
Now that’s the foundation of Calvary. That’s why Jesus said, “If you don’t forgive, your Heavenly Father will not forgive you.” How can we be children of God when He has forgiven us of such a great debt, a $4.5 billion debt, when Jesus is the very worst debt that we can sin against each other is basically $10,000 compared to $4.5 billion. I’m shortening this extremely, but I’m doing it because of the sake of time. And so a Christian has got to realize you can’t forgive until you realize what you’ve been forgiven of. And, you see, there’s so many believers today that are trapped, and that’s exactly what offense is. It’s a trap. They’re tormented by demonic powers because an offense is a trap.
RR: Well, they’ve been hurt.
LR: You think you have every ability to say, “Well, he did this wrong, that wrong, this wrong, that wrong.” And the greatest revelation I ever got on this, first of all, was reading your book. It’s marvelous. I have to say that flat out, it’s marvelous. And everybody who has ever even taken a breath needs to read the book, because sometime if you live long enough, you’re going to get offended by somebody or you’re going to offend somebody else.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS SU01 Let me tell you, if you want to be involved in something exciting, the fourth annual Oral Roberts Ministers Conference June 23, 24, and 25, in association with the Charismatic Bible Ministries Fellowship. Let me tell you, it is for you if you are a minister of the gospel in any way, shape, form, or fashion. It is for you. And I’m going to ask my dad who is my special guest today to explain a little bit about it. He and I are joined today by Dean Clarence Boyd, dean of students of ORU, Lindsay is here, Cheryl Prewitt Salem is here, and I have other guests coming later in this program. Give them all a good welcome. (APPLAUSE) Dad, we’ve been talking about the Ministers Conference upcoming this next June in association with the fastest-growing fellowship in America, the Charismatic Bible Ministries Fellowship God led you to organize. Can you share a word about it?
SPOR ORAL ROBERTS Well, I think the important thing to hold up in front of your mind is that it is a fellowship; it is not a denomination. We have many denominations in the world and each is fulfilling its own part in the kingdom of God. But there is a tremendous need for ministers like myself and others across this land to come together in the fellowship in the Holy Spirit, unity and love through signs and wonders. So we organized what we call the Charismatic Bible Ministries. People from every walk of life, some from denominations, some from independent groups, but all of them ministering in the charismatic power of the Holy Spirit and desiring a fellowship where they could come and not transsect official church business but to get down to loving and praying and fellowshipping and strengthening each other so that as we each go back to our own ministry calling we have a greater anointing, we have more understanding of how to win souls, to heal the sick, to cast out devils, and to love as Jesus loved. Now the Charismatic Bible Ministries will meet in conjunction with the Oral Roberts fourth annual Ministers Conference June 23, 24, and 25 — a Tuesday, a Wednesday, and a Thursday — and I officially and lovingly invite you to come. There are no fees. Hotels are near the campus and many of them are giving special rates.
You can make your reservation by writing me, Oral Roberts, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Or you can pick up your phone and dial that number on your screen, 918-495-7777, and say, “Make me a reservation.” Some 7,000 were here last year and we’re expecting a great number this year. And some of the greatest charismatic leaders of the world will be sharing their ministry with you — how to build a great church, how to have a healing ministry, how to use the gifts of the Spirit, and how to come together in love. It’s going to be exciting and I invite you to be here. I’ll be sharing my ministry, the secrets of the Lord’s call upon my life. I want you here and I’m expecting you. (APPLAUSE)
